Most wall calendars are reprehensible, overdone train wrecks of either bad art with nice calendar layouts, or good art with bad calendar layouts. We avoid them.
About three years ago, however, we stumbled upon one that was different: a large typographic wall calendar designed by the Pentagram design group. Each month is laid out in a different typeface (the bio of the typeface creator is included along with all major holidays for the United States and United Kingdom), and the beauty of it lies in how much is missing, not how much is there. It is elegant, simple and large. We buy this one for our office and home.
We also like that the old months can be used as distinctive wrapping paper: Selecting the appropriate month, circling the day with a marker pen and writing a personal greeting, each calendar month is transformed into a unique gift-wrap.
